Ethical dilemma · MMI practice station
You volunteer at a community clinic that offers free eye tests one Saturday a month. Twenty minutes before closing there is time for one more appointment. Two people are waiting: an elderly man who has been in the queue since the morning and wants his glasses checked, and a woman who has just walked in with her son, who she says has been struggling to read the board at school. She tells you they cannot afford a private test. The coordinator has asked you to decide. Talk through how you would decide, and what you would say to the person who is not seen today.
